Costs Draftsman

Job type: Permanent

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience + bonus

Main Responsibilities  

• Production of Bills for assessment by the court.

• To draft Claims for assessment by the Legal Services Commission.

• To complete post-assessment work to include checking bills received and considering time crucial submission dates

• Appeal LSC assessments as required

• To assist in drafting High Costs Case Plans for submission to the Legal Services Commission

• To liaise and advise with fee earners and support staff in relation to a variety of legal costs matters

• Drafting estimates of costs to accompany Allocation Questionnaires and Pre Trial Checklists

• Conducting negotiations

• Drafting points of dispute and replies to points of dispute

• Attending detailed assessment hearings

• Undertaking other duties reasonably required by senior management

Skills

• A minimum of 12 months experience of Cost Drafting and a genuine interest in developing within the role

• Solicitor/Legal Executive qualification highly desirable.

• Have proven IT skills and ability to adapt new technology

• Able to demonstrate strong administrative and organisational skills

• Excellent communication skills including oral and written presentation skills
