With just 14 days to spare, MOJ finally publishes portal procedures

Following the Law Society’s demands for an extension on the implementation of the new portal, the Ministry of Justice has finally published the procedures for the extended online claims portal- and with only 14 working days to spare.

These new rules cover the extension of the road traffic accident portal to public liability and employers liability claims and will also include higher valued RTA claims between £10,000 and £25,000. This translates into fixed fees for solicitors, which is regarded to be an added woe when combined with the effects of the April reforms.

With the new rules applicable from 31st July, many law firms are wondering whether this leaves adequate adjustment time. Furthermore, it may come to light in the near future that some law firms may struggle to cope with the added financial pressure of fixed fees for higher value claims
